Economic Development Volunteer Opportunities

One of our fastest growing areas of service is within our Economic Development programs. Whether you're interested in being a part of our RISE program (soils training), our Amatasi Project, or Give Light program, we have a volunteer program for you.

RISE - Soils Training

Unless we start addressing and eliminating the causes of diabetes (poor diet), the island nations will be required to pour more and more of their limited resources in treating the symptoms. As the leading killer in the South Pacific, Sea Mercy's RISE program is teaching and training the 'at risk' remote island communities to grow healthy and sustainable food. We also develop and implement programs that develop a sustainable and growing income streams.

Our Economic Development teams are retraining the remote island communities to return to their healthy and self-sustaining lifestyles prior to the introduction of the western diet (processed foods) that is now killing them.

Amatasi Project

Helping remote island communities to return to their cultural roots of sailing is vital to their economic future and our Amatasi Project accomplishes that purpose. Whether your desire is to take the lead in finding the sponsors  to build a vessel for a remote community, to be on the ground and help teach them how to build and maintain an Amatasi vessel, or even teach them how to sail one, we have many volunteer opportunities available.

Give Light Program

Our Give Light program is a great way for anyone to get involved with a Sea Mercy program and help change a life in the South Pacific. We provide a low cost, non-polluting, renewable lighting solution for families, students, craftsman, fisherman and medical needs.

Volunteer to adopt a remote village/family and take the lead in raising the funds needed to purchase the lights for our vessels to deliver to them during our Floating Health Care Clinic stops or Economic Development programs.
